My new job

I’ve accepted a new position within my company (MicroK12), where I’ll move from the service department fixing computers to our sales department, doing inside sales and also filling the role of video specialist. Part of my new job will also be to create promotional videos spotlighting products for our website. We’ve never ventured into video production before, so I’ll be creating that aspect of promotions from scratch.

One of the great things about this is my schedule will be stable. Right now I’m working Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in Kent where I need to be there at 8:30 and in our office on Tuesday and Friday, where I can show up at 9:30. Now my day will be from 8-5, and there’s always a 15 minute commute. I’m even considering getting a bike so on the nicer days I can ride in to work.

I ask for your prayer for me in this transition that I would finish well in service, and that I wouldn’t let the senior-itis creep in.In all, this is a huge blessing from God and I’m really excited to begin this new season.

Bowling Tournament Today

I participated in my second 9 pin no-tap tournament at Robin Hood Lanes today. The format basically means that if you get 9 pins on your first shot, it counts as a strike. I did this last time in April, and missed the cut by 40 pins. Today, I did a lot better (211, 183, 208, 199) and made the cut.

During the final round, you bowl 2 games and the totals of those 2 games (with your league handicap) makes your score. My first game was a pretty dismal 157. After that I thought my chances were gone. The second game, though, I found a rhythm and struck on the opening 6 frames, finishing with a 265. I ended up in 5th place and won $35, for a cool $5 profit!

Apple and Google in a LOST size battle

Apple and Google in a LOST size battle

I really like this column comparing Apple and Google to the brothers from LOST. I watched the android presentation today from Google, and Iust admit that I love some of the things that Google is doing with cloud computing. The notification that sends a map straight to your device is great, and having your app data automtically sync to the cloud is fantastic. I’m still bought into the Apple eco-system, but they can really take some cues from Google when it comes to cloud computing. I’m getting even more excited for WWDC for Apple to respond to all the shots taken at them (and maybe take a couple of their own).

4 Psalm 119

4 You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. 5 Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! 6 Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. 7 I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. 8 I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me!
